A football match between Moustakbal Rouissat and USM El Harrach in the 21st round of the Algerian Second Division was marred by violent riots, forcing international referee Youssef Kamouh to cancel the game.
The "18 February" stadium turned into a scene of chaos even before the match began, as tensions ran high in the stands and on the field.
The situation escalated during the warm-up, with players from USM El Harrach being attacked and pelted with stones, causing some to fall to the ground injured.
The violence continued as some spectators stormed the pitch, leading to injuries among players, fans, and even officials. One of the victims was USM El Harrach’s sporting director, Mostafa Mazza, who was caught up in the chaos.
A video posted on USM El Harrach's official page documented the turmoil, showing players lying on the ground in pain. Another clip revealed a player with a head injury inside the locker room.
Faced with these dangerous circumstances, referee Kamouh had no choice but to call off the match.
This incident raises serious concerns about safety and security measures at football matches in Algeria, highlighting the need for stricter regulations to prevent such violent outbreaks.
