CNN: Secret Service Agent Who Tried to Save President Kennedy Passes Away
Clint Hill, the Secret Service agent who attempted to protect President John F. Kennedy on the day of his assassination, has passed away at the age of 93. According to a statement from the Secret Service, Hill "ran into a hail of bullets to shield President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy on November 22, 1963, in Dallas."
On that fateful day, Hill was responsible for protecting the First Lady, and was riding in a car directly behind the presidential limousine. When the shots rang out, Hill jumped from his vehicle and rushed to the president's car to shield the First Lady and the wounded president.
Despite his heroic efforts, Hill was unable to save President Kennedy's life. The agent later expressed regret over not being able to reach the president's car in time to prevent the assassination.
