Israeli Army Chief Herzi Halevi acknowledged that Israel made mistakes on October 7th and took personal responsibility for the failure.
"We have no problem saying that we made mistakes on October 7th, and I take responsibility," Halevi stated. "My responsibility is my responsibility. I am the commander of the army on October 7th, and I have my responsibilities. I see that in every decision I make, a part of me has made a mistake."
According to Halevi, he has been reviewing the events of October 7th daily, examining the failures and acknowledging the bravery of Israeli soldiers. He emphasized that the Israeli army has professional observers who reported events calmly and professionally until the last moment.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army released key findings from its investigation into the "Aqsa Flood" operation on October 7th, 2023. The investigation revealed that the army had underestimated the preparedness of its enemies, Hamas, for a multi-front war.
The investigation stated: "The army thought that Israel's next war would be multi-front, but our enemies were more prepared for a multi-front war than our estimates." It added that on October 7th, Israel's perception of the conflict with Hamas as manageable collapsed, and the Military Intelligence Directorate failed to predict the decision to launch a surprise attack and its execution on October 7th.
