French President Emmanuel Macron announced his desire to reach a "rapid agreement" on Ukraine, ensuring security guarantees for Kyiv, following his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
According to Macron, the main achievement of his visit to the United States was securing Trump's support for the security guarantees that Europe intends to provide to Ukraine. Macron emphasized that Europe has allocated $138 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The French President noted that the European Union shares Washington's desire to end the conflict quickly, but insists that a peace agreement must include security guarantees for Kyiv. Macron also revealed that several countries within and outside the European Union are prepared to send troops to Ukraine as a guarantee after the signing of a peace agreement.
Macron stressed that the discussion is focused on the future, "once peace is signed between Russia and Ukraine, which we will guarantee."
The announcement comes as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate, with ongoing diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
