### **Red Cross Evacuates Gaza After Receiving 4 Israeli Bodies at Kerem Shalom Border Crossing**
**Published:** 26.02.2025 | 23:20 GMT
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) evacuated Gaza early Thursday after receiving the bodies of four Israeli prisoners. The bodies were transferred to the Kerem Shalom border crossing as part of the seventh phase of the prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel.
### **Details of the Exchange**
An Israeli source confirmed that the four deceased captives had been handed over to the ICRC and were en route to an Israeli military unit stationed at Kerem Shalom. The identities of the deceased prisoners have not yet been confirmed, according to Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.
Simultaneously, the first buses carrying Palestinian prisoners left Ofer Prison, heading towards Beitunia, west of Ramallah in the West Bank.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners' Information Office, 620 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be released in the seventh batch of the first phase of the "Flood of the Free" deal. The release includes:
- **151 prisoners** with life sentences or long terms, distributed as follows:
- **43 prisoners** to be released to the West Bank and Jerusalem.
- **97 prisoners** to be exiled outside of Palestine.
- **11 prisoners** from Gaza, held since before October 7th.
- **445 prisoners** from Gaza, detained after October 7th.
- **24 female and child prisoners**, with a second batch of women and children from Gaza to follow.
### **Negotiation Challenges**
Israel's Channel 12 revealed that during the last 24 hours of negotiations, Israel also requested the bodies of foreign captives, but no agreement was reached. However, the police have been instructed to prepare to receive the remains of five foreign nationals overnight.
### **Implications of the Exchange**
This latest phase of the exchange deal marks a significant step in the ongoing negotiations between Hamas and Israel. The transfer of prisoners and remains reflects the fragile and complex nature of the ceasefire and reconciliation efforts.
The situation remains tense, with both sides navigating sensitive humanitarian and political considerations. As the exchange progresses, the international community continues to monitor developments closely, urging both parties to maintain stability and prioritize humanitarian concerns.
