Shoigu Announces Results of His Talks in Indonesia
Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu announced the results of his talks in Indonesia, stating that "specific results with deadlines for contracts" were achieved. The discussions covered issues of security, military cooperation, agriculture, and energy.
Shoigu met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Jakarta during his working visit to the country. He told reporters that the talks with the President and the Defense Minister were "detailed and comprehensive... with specific results, figures, dates, and contracts."
According to Shoigu, representatives from Russian security agencies, institutions, and ministries of agriculture, energy, finance, and defense cooperation participated in the talks. He noted that a separate topic was investment activity, related to energy, and that Russia is interested in learning from Indonesia's experience in protecting biological resources. Cybersecurity also holds a separate place.
Shoigu added that representatives from the Russian Interior Ministry discussed security issues with their Indonesian counterparts, including counter-narcotics efforts.
The Russian Security Council Secretary confirmed that President Widodo accepted President Vladimir Putin's invitation to visit Russia. "I handed him a message from the Russian President, which included an invitation to visit our country, and it was accepted with pleasure," Shoigu said.
Earlier, Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow Jose Tavares told Novosti that President Widodo's visit to Russia is expected in 2025, but the exact date has not been determined yet.
