Tragic Family Shooting in Wyoming Leaves Three Dead, One Survivor
Authorities in Wyoming have reported a shocking incident where a mother fatally shot her three young daughters before turning the gun on herself. A fourth daughter, aged seven, survived but remains in critical condition.
Details of the Incident
According to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office, the mother, identified as 32-year-old Traneil Harshman, called 911 to report the shooting. She provided the location of her daughters before abruptly ending the call. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers found all four children and their mother with gunshot wounds to the head. Harshman was still alive but later succumbed to her injuries.
Victims and Investigation
The deceased victims included a nine-year-old girl and two twin sisters, aged two. The seven-year-old survivor is receiving medical treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Mental Health Struggles
Harshman’s husband, Cliff Harshman, revealed in an emotional statement to Cowboy State Daily that his wife had been struggling with severe mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression. He emphasized: "My wife was not a monster. Most people don’t understand how this affects the brain. It’s a chemical imbalance, and medications can sometimes make it worse."
Cliff Harshman, the biological father of the youngest victim, had been helping raise the older children as well. Friends of the family have launched a Kickstarter campaign to assist with medical expenses for the surviving daughter.
