Trump and Sunak to Discuss Sending Peacekeeping Forces to Ukraine

The White House announced in a statement that US President Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will discuss sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine during their upcoming meeting in Washington on Thursday.
According to the statement, the expected talks will heavily focus on Ukraine. The UK has pledged to play an active role in future peace operations, including sending British troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force. Sunak will discuss this plan in more detail with Trump.
The statement also highlighted existing differences between the US and European countries on this issue. Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing European officials, that Sunak might offer Trump a joint plan with France to deploy European "peacekeeping" forces in Ukraine if Moscow and Kyiv reach a peace agreement.
The European plan involves the US playing a "supporting" role, although it would not deploy its troops in Ukraine. Trump previously stated that his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, would accept the presence of European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine as part of a potential deal to end the crisis.
