Zelensky: Ukraine Won't Repay Even 10 Cents to the US if Classified as Debt

Ukrainian President Volodymyr  stated that Ukraine will not repay any money to the United States if it is classified as debt. He emphasized that the assistance Ukraine received from the US was in the form of grants, not debt.

Zelensky also stated that Ukraine refuses to recognize any debt to the US, whether it's $500 billion or $100 billion. He clarified that the aid Ukraine received from the US was in the form of grants.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he expects to reach an agreement with Kyiv soon regarding compensation obligations to the US in the amount of $400-500 billion.

The Financial Times reported that Ukraine agreed to new terms for a rare earth metals deal with the US after Washington abandoned its claim for $500 billion in compensation.

Zelensky noted that security guarantees were absent from the proposed agreement. The Ukrainian delegation submitted a revised text, which the Americans did not consider in Munich.

This caused tension in US-Ukrainian relations, with Trump describing Zelensky as a "dictator" and demanding that he hold presidential elections.

In the second version, Washington demanded that Kyiv participate in an investment fund, to which Ukraine would contribute $500 billion, in addition to granting the US the right to exploit 50% of Ukraine's mineral resources as compensation for US aid received since 2022.

Fox News reported that Zelensky plans to visit Washington on Friday to meet with Trump, who confirmed that he does not object to Zelensky's visit "if he wants to."
