Taiwan Nuclear Power Plant Fire Extinguished, No Safety Concerns
A fire broke out at Taiwan's Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant in southern Taiwan on Thursday, but was quickly extinguished by firefighters, the Taiwan Power Company said. The incident did not pose any safety concerns.
According to a statement by the company, the fire occurred about 50 meters away from the nuclear power equipment and did not affect electricity generation.
Initial reports suggested that the fire started in a cooling tower adjacent to the plant, but no injuries were reported and the fire was brought under control.
The Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant is located in Pingtung County, southern Taiwan. The incident is currently under investigation.
