Egypt Announces Administrative Committee to Oversee Gaza for 6 Months
Egypt's Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel-Atti, has announced the establishment of an administrative committee to oversee the Gaza Strip for a transitional period of six months. This move is aimed at supporting the Palestinian Authority in assuming full control over the territory.
According to Abdel-Atti, the committee's primary objective is to manage the daily affairs of the Gaza Strip, in addition to implementing a reconstruction plan. The plan, which will be presented at the Arab Summit on March 4, involves several phases, including the removal of rubble and unexploded ordnance, early recovery, and the establishment of temporary housing units for the strip's residents.
Abdel-Atti emphasized the importance of coordinating with international institutions, including the United Nations, the World Bank, and the United Nations Development Programme, to ensure the successful implementation of the reconstruction plan.
The administrative committee's role is seen as a crucial step towards supporting the Palestinian Authority in assuming full control over the Gaza Strip. This move is also expected to strengthen the unity between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
