Forest Fire Engulfs Antalya Resort, Winds Hinder Firefighting Efforts
A devastating forest fire has broken out in the Turkish resort town of Antalya, with strong winds hindering the efforts of firefighters to contain the blaze.
According to the Turkish state-run news agency, Anadolu, the fire erupted in a forested area of the Kemer district in Antalya, with the cause of the blaze still unknown.
Firefighters from the Antalya Regional Directorate of Forestry were quickly dispatched to the scene, with four ground vehicles, two water tankers, and two initial response vehicles, as well as numerous firefighters, working to bring the fire under control.
Ahmet Solmaz, the governor of the Kemer district, reported that the fire was active in three separate locations. "There are light winds blowing in the area, which is hindering our efforts," Solmaz said. "However, we aim to gain control of the fire to a large extent. The operation is ongoing."
The fire has raised concerns about the safety of tourists and locals in the area, with many taking to social media to share images and videos of the blaze.
