"Over 30 Migrants Stranded on Oil Platform Off Tunisian Coast"
A humanitarian organization, Sea-Watch, reported on Monday that more than 30 migrants, including two children, have been stranded on an oil platform off the coast of Tunisia for three days, in dire need of assistance.
The organization stated that the migrants were spotted on the "Miskar" oil platform on Saturday, with an empty rubber boat floating nearby. Sea-Watch confirmed that the migrants were huddled together under blankets on the platform, seeking shelter from the wind and waves.
Alarm Phone, a group that provides assistance to migrants at sea, reported that around 35 people were stranded on the oil platform, having fled from Libya. The group lost contact with the migrants 24 hours prior and alerted authorities and a nearby commercial vessel.
Alarm Phone stated that the migrants had not eaten for days and were suffering from illness. The Tunisian authorities reportedly informed the group that they would not be rescued on Sunday.
The organization urged European authorities to take immediate action to rescue the stranded migrants and bring them to a place of safety.
